Manchester City is four games away from potentially achieving a domestic double, but the final team selections from manager Pep Guardiola could provide insight into the futures of six players.

Stefan Ortega: The backup goalkeeper may only have one remaining opportunity to prove himself if given the start, as his future could be decided based on his performance.

Although he has been told Ederson remains the number one, Ortega is considering leaving if he doesn’t get more playing time.

Sergio Gomez: The left-back may get limited minutes if City secures comfortable leads in upcoming games. If so, he’ll need to demonstrate his ability to contribute or risk being placed on the transfer list.

Matheus Nunes: Although he’s unlikely to leave and is content with his progress, Nunes faces competition from potential new midfield arrivals. If he gets playing time, he must make the most of it to solidify his position in the squad.

Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, and Julian Alvarez: These three players are not in danger of leaving, but they are competing for the attacking midfield role.

Foden aims to impress and possibly displace De Bruyne in the middle, while Alvarez strives to make an impact in his reduced game time.

These final matches of the season will be critical for these players, offering them a chance to solidify their spots in the squad or impress potential suitors.

Guardiola’s decisions will give fans an idea of which players have a future at the club and which may be on their way out.
