Hermes Desio, the academy director of River Plate, believes Claudio Echeverri is prepared to make the transition to Manchester City.

Echeverri, an 18-year-old attacking midfielder, caught the attention of European clubs with his performances for River Plate. Manchester City secured a deal for Echeverri in January, allowing him to continue with River Plate on loan until next January.

Desio attributes River Plate’s success in nurturing talents like Echeverri to the demanding environment of the club. He emphasizes the mental strength required to handle the pressure, citing the packed stadiums and high expectations at River Plate matches.

Desio believes Echeverri possesses the necessary tools to succeed, having matured early and thrived in River Plate’s challenging atmosphere.

Echeverri’s move to Manchester City in 2025 marks another milestone for River Plate’s academy, following the footsteps of other graduates like Julián Álvarez and Enzo Fernández who secured moves to Europe. Desio’s endorsement underscores Echeverri’s readiness for the next step in his career with Manchester City.
