Real Madrid has reportedly surged ahead of Manchester City in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s highly-rated youngster, Florian Wirtz, in 2025.

The 20-year-old attacker, known for his versatility and attacking prowess, has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe, with Real Madrid and Manchester City being the frontrunners.

According to sources from Defensa Central in Spain, Real Madrid views Wirtz as a ‘generational talent’ and is keen to secure his services for the upcoming season.

With the impending departures of key players like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, Real Madrid sees Wirtz as a potential game-changer who could bolster their squad.

The deal to acquire Wirtz’s services is expected to be substantial, with a potential fee reaching up to €100 million. Despite the hefty price tag, both Real Madrid and Manchester City are prepared to enter into a bidding war for the promising young talent.

One factor that could tilt the scales in Real Madrid’s favor is their plan to appoint current Bayer Leverkusen head coach, Xabi Alonso, as their next manager.

Alonso’s potential arrival could play a crucial role in securing Wirtz’s signature, given the player’s existing rapport with the coach.

As Wirtz continues to impress with his performances in the Bundesliga, Real Madrid’s pursuit of the talented youngster underscores their commitment to building a formidable squad for the future.
