Among the other players included on the shortlist are Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

Here is a ranking of the nominees:

  1. Phil Foden: Foden has been exceptional for Manchester City, becoming one of the most important players in the squad and helping the team in their pursuit of titles.
  2. Declan Rice: Rice’s contributions in midfield have been instrumental for Arsenal, particularly after his move from West Ham United for a record fee.
  3. Cole Palmer: Palmer’s move from Manchester City to Chelsea has been beneficial for him, as he has quickly established himself as Chelsea’s best player this season.
  4. Ollie Watkins: Watkins’ impressive performances for Aston Villa have been crucial in the club’s remarkable season.
  5. Martin Odegaard: The Arsenal captain has shown his leadership qualities, contributing significantly with goals and assists.
  6. Erling Haaland: Haaland continues to score goals at an astonishing rate for Manchester City, though his all-around game has faced some criticism.
  7. Alexander Isak: Isak’s goalscoring form for Newcastle United has been key in pushing the club up the Premier League table.
  8. Virgil van Dijk: The Liverpool captain has been in excellent form this season, helping the Reds stabilize their defense and return to the top of the table.
