Phil Foden sets sights on two finals as Manchester City pursue historic achievement

Manchester City are on the cusp of achieving a feat never before seen in English men’s football – winning the Premier League title for a staggering fourth consecutive year.

Foden: A Once-in-a-Lifetime Achievement

Phil Foden, recently crowned the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year (FWA), believes this potential accomplishment might never be replicated.

City currently holds a two-point lead over Arsenal heading into the final matchday. Winning their own game or mirroring Arsenal’s result guarantees City the championship.

“It’s history and I don’t think I can ever see it being done again,” declared Foden, who missed the FWA ceremony to prioritize City’s preparations. “It’s something the team knows, the team understands and we’re looking forward to trying to get it done.”

Focus on the Finish Line

Foden is laser-focused on the remaining fixtures. He views both the Premier League title decider and the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester United as “finals.”

“If we can win these next two finals, then go into the tournament (Euro 2024) full of confidence,” he said. “We’ll give everything to try and achieve success and try and do the Premier League four times which has never been done before. It would mean a lot to us.”

City Women Also in Title Race

Manchester City’s women’s team is embroiled in their own tight championship battle. They need a better result than Chelsea in their final match to secure the Women’s Super League title, though goal difference plays a crucial factor.

Khadija Shaw: Belief in the Team

Despite a broken foot that sidelines her for the Women’s Super League finale, City star Khadija Shaw, the FWA Women’s Player of the Year, expressed her unwavering faith in her teammates.

“I’m going to be very nervous, to be honest,” Shaw admitted, “but I believe in my team. Once we do our best hopefully our best is good enough.”

With the stakes incredibly high, Manchester City prepares to tackle both the Premier League and FA Cup finals, aiming to etch their names in English football history.
