Pep Guardiola opens door to Barcelona return as Man City boss claims he’d head back to Camp Nou for free

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his willingness to return to Barcelona “for free,” but with a catch.

Guardiola, who led Barcelona to numerous titles during his tenure, including two Champions League victories, stated that he would not return to the Camp Nou as a manager.

Instead, Guardiola envisions himself as the ultimate decision-maker at the club, potentially as president. He mentioned that his first appointment would be Aitana Bonmati as sporting director.

Bonmati is a Spanish World Cup winner and the 2023 Laureus Award winner for Sportswoman of the Year.

Guardiola’s statement came during a TV-3 documentary on Bonmati, where he expressed his desire to see her in a leadership role.

Bonmati responded positively to the idea of commanding positions of power but joked about Guardiola’s long-term coaching ambitions.

As for his current role, Guardiola remains focused on Manchester City’s season. His team aims to secure a domestic double by winning the FA Cup and the Premier League, where they trail Arsenal by four points but have two games in hand.

City will face Manchester United in the FA Cup final on May 25 and play Brighton in their next Premier League fixture on Thursday.
