Nine players could miss Man City clash against Tottenham

Manchester City finds itself in a precarious position. With the Premier League title hanging in the balance, they face a daunting task: defeating Tottenham Hotspur on their home turf.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has proven to be a fortress for Spurs in the league, with City having never managed to snatch a victory there. However, a recent FA Cup win at the same stadium, where Nathan Ake’s late goal secured their passage, might serve as a much-needed confidence booster for the Cityzens.

Injury woes threaten to disrupt both teams’ plans. Manchester City could be missing the creative spark of Jack Grealish due to illness, while Nathan Ake’s knock at Craven Cottage adds another name to their injury list. Tottenham Hotspur’s situation appears even more concerning.

Key players like Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, and Timo Werner are out for the season, while the in-form Richarlison has been ruled out with a fresh injury, leaving him unavailable for Brazil’s Copa America campaign.

The attacking void left by Richarlison’s absence is compounded by the struggles of Dejan Kulusevski. The young winger, who tormented City with a 90th-minute equalizer in their 3-3 draw at the Etihad back in December, might find himself dropped in favor of youngster Dane Scarlett or the rarely seen Bryan Gil.

Adding to Tottenham’s woes is a defensive headache for manager Ange Postecoglou. Ryan Sessegnon, Fraser Forster, and left-back options like Emerson Royal and Oliver Skipp are also currently sidelined with injuries.

This might force Postecoglou to deploy a makeshift solution at left-back, potentially hindering their defensive organization. Midfielder Oliver Skipp, who filled the left-back role against Burnley after Emerson Royal’s shaky performance against Liverpool, could be tasked with this responsibility again.

However, Postecoglou seems hesitant due to Skipp’s injury record and the tactical differences between playing center-back and full-back.

Despite their dwindling Champions League hopes, Tottenham Hotspur is determined to go out on a high note. They are aware that a win against the league leaders would be a statement victory and a positive way to end the season.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has vowed that his team will give their all on Tuesday night, acknowledging the challenge City presents but emphasizing their desire to play their brand of football and see where it takes them.

While Manchester City is the clear favorite on paper, Tottenham’s fighting spirit and potential defensive vulnerabilities could make for a fascinating encounter.
