Manchester City star offered a dream exit from Etihad

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s future is up in the air with a year left on his contract.

The Citizen is willing to negotiate a new deal this summer, but De Bruyne, turning 34 next year, might be considering other options.

While there’s no indication of De Bruyne being unhappy at City, there are emerging interests from outside. San Diego FC, a new MLS franchise with sky-high ambitions, is reportedly ready to make a bold move for the Belgian star.

San Diego, the most expensive franchise in MLS history, is aiming to make a splash similar to Inter Miami’s acquisition of Lionel Messi. They see De Bruyne as a leader for their inaugural season in 2025.

De Bruyne has also been linked to the Saudi Arabian league, but according to sources, he would prefer a move to the US. San Diego is prepared to offer him a lucrative contract comparable to Messi’s to make the move appealing.

This wouldn’t be the first time De Bruyne has expressed interest in the MLS. Back in 2018, his agent mentioned De Bruyne’s desire to end his career playing in America, citing his love for the country and its culture.

Whether De Bruyne stays in England or not remains to be seen, but San Diego FC is definitely putting itself out there as a potential landing spot.
