Manchester City owners set to win race for new Luis Suarez

Manchester City’s owners are reportedly on the brink of securing the signing of Uruguayan youngster Luciano Rodriguez, often referred to as the ‘new Luis Suarez.’

According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, the City Group plans to send Rodriguez to Girona, where he can gain experience playing in La Liga.

Girona’s participation in the Champions League next season complicates City’s ability to loan Rodriguez there, so he will move directly to the Spanish club.

Girona is expected to pay around US$10m for the player, with 30% of the fee staying with his current club, Liverpool Montevideo.

Rodriguez’s journey is seen as a strategic move by City, allowing him to develop his skills at a smaller club before potentially joining Manchester City in the future.

The City Group’s financial resources have given them an edge in the race for the talented striker over other interested clubs such as River Plate and Palmeiras.
