Manchester City owners, City Football Group, are on the brink of signing Liverpool Montevideo winger Luciano Rodriguez, offering a $14 million transfer fee with the intention of sending him to La Liga side Girona.

City Football Group has been actively acquiring promising South American talents and developing them within their portfolio of clubs, including players like Yan Couto and Savio.

Rodriguez, 20, is reportedly more inclined to move to Europe, despite similar proposals from Brazilian giants Palmeiras and River Plate.

His potential transfer includes a $15 million offer for 70% of his rights from Girona, along with a five-year contract agreement.

Rodriguez has played 14 times across all competitions for Liverpool Montevideo this season, scoring four goals.

He has also represented Uruguay at various youth levels and was part of the team that won the 2023 FIFA under-20 World Cup, scoring the winning goal in the final match against Italy.
