Manchester City midfielder tipped for future Major League Soccer move

Christian Benteke, a former Premier League striker and compatriot of Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, has suggested that the midfielder may move to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the future.

De Bruyne is approaching the final year of his contract at City, and discussions about a renewal have yet to be revealed.

While Saudi Arabian clubs are reportedly interested in De Bruyne and may offer a fee of over £100 million, both the player and Manchester City seem keen to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium. However, Benteke believes that De Bruyne could find a new challenge in MLS, particularly in Los Angeles.

Benteke emphasized the physical and technical nature of the MLS, highlighting that players often underestimate the league’s competitiveness. He also mentioned that the league offers players a good balance of enjoyment and challenge.

A move to the United States could appeal to De Bruyne and his young family, providing an attractive alternative to a transfer to the Middle East.

City’s recent transfer activity saw the departures of several key players to Saudi Arabia, such as Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte, while other stars like Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva were also linked with moves.

The future of Kevin De Bruyne remains uncertain, but Benteke’s comments shed light on potential options for the City playmaker as his career progresses.
