Manchester City are standing firm on their stance regarding Joao Cancelo’s future, with the club insisting on a permanent sale for the versatile defender during the upcoming summer transfer window as per Diario sport.

The Premier League champions have made it clear that they will entertain offers from interested parties but are adamant that only the highest bidder will secure Cancelo’s services, setting a valuation of €40 million for the player.

Despite possessing a contract that runs until 2027, Cancelo finds himself surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium, with the club showing no intention of utilizing him in their plans going forward.

However, Manchester City are in no rush to offload the Portuguese international and are prepared to wait for the right offer to materialize.

While Premier League clubs are potential suitors for Cancelo, the possibility of interest from elsewhere, including clubs in Saudi Arabia, adds another dimension to the transfer saga.

This broadens the scope for potential destinations for the 28-year-old, with Manchester City open to considering offers from various quarters.

Notably, Barcelona’s reported interest in Cancelo has hit a roadblock, with the Catalan giants deeming Manchester City’s €40 million valuation as prohibitive.

Sources suggest that Barcelona are unwilling to meet the asking price, let alone come close to it, indicating that a move to the Camp Nou is unlikely unless there is a significant shift in negotiations.

With uncertainty surrounding Cancelo’s future, Manchester City remain resolute in their stance, prioritizing a permanent sale and seeking the best possible deal for the player.

As the  transfer window approaches, the saga surrounding Cancelo’s next destination promises to be one of the focal points of the summer transfer market.
