Manchester City faces uncertainty over De Bruyne’s future and stones’ discontent

Manchester City is grappling with uncertainty over the future of key players, with Kevin De Bruyne’s contract situation and John Stones’ discontent making headlines, according to Football365.

De Bruyne, despite his exceptional performances since returning from injury, has an uncertain future at the club as his contract expires in 2025.

Reports suggest that City is not guaranteed to offer him a new contract, with interest from the Saudi Pro League and several European clubs.

If De Bruyne does not extend his contract, City may consider selling him this summer, with Saudi Pro League clubs prepared to offer significant sums for the Belgian midfielder.

In the event of De Bruyne’s departure, City has identified Florian Wirtz as a potential replacement. The Bayer Leverkusen star has impressed with his performances in the Bundesliga, attracting interest from top clubs across Europe. However, Leverkusen is reluctant to sell Wirtz, setting a high asking price of €150 million (£129 million).

Meanwhile, John Stones is reportedly “very unhappy” at City after losing his starting role despite being fit and available. Stones, who is considered a guaranteed starter for England at the Euros, is said to be considering his future at the club. His situation adds to the uncertainty surrounding City’s squad ahead of the transfer window.

City’s management faces the challenge of navigating these player issues while preparing for the next season.

The decisions regarding De Bruyne’s contract and Stones’ future will have significant implications for City’s squad composition and their ambitions in domestic and European competitions.
