Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are emerging as the leading contenders to secure the signature of RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo, according to reports from BILD relayed by Sport Witness.

Despite interest from Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions have fallen behind in the race to acquire Olmo, who has a release clause set at €60 million.

Dani Olmo’s journey at RB Leipzig has been marked by exceptional performances since his arrival from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020.

The 25-year-old, who began his career in Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, has established himself as one of the top playmakers in the Bundesliga over the past four years.

Olmo kicked off the 2023/24 season impressively, scoring a crucial hat-trick as RB Leipzig secured victory over Bayern Munich to win the DFL Supercup.

Despite facing injury setbacks afterward, he has still managed to contribute seven goals and four assists in 20 appearances across all competitions this season.

With his long-term future at RB Leipzig uncertain due to his €60 million release clause, Olmo has attracted attention from several elite clubs, including Manchester City, Tottenham, and Barcelona.

Barcelona’s interest in Olmo is longstanding, seeing him as a versatile option in midfield and attack. However, his hefty release clause has put them at a disadvantage compared to Manchester City and Tottenham, who are better positioned financially to meet the valuation.

Manchester City sees Olmo as a potential long-term replacement for Bernardo Silva, capable of operating both on the right flank and in central areas. Similarly, Tottenham views him as a versatile option in the final third, providing solutions in attack.

While Barcelona may still attempt to re-enter the race, Manchester City and Tottenham are currently the frontrunners to secure Olmo’s services from RB Leipzig in the upcoming transfer window.

The battle for Olmo’s signature promises to be intriguing, with multiple top clubs vying for the talented Spanish international’s talents.
