Manchester City acknowledges transfer error and opts to re-sign academy graduate boasting 23 goal contributions this season

Manchester City is reportedly eyeing a familiar face to bolster their squad for the upcoming season. According to recent reports, the club is considering re-signing Jeremie Frimpong, a player who originally came through their youth ranks.

Frimpong, who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen, has been in sensational form this season, contributing to 23 goals. Despite his success, Manchester City let him leave in 2019 to pursue first-team opportunities with Celtic.

Now, with Frimpong’s release clause set at €40 million this summer, City sees an opportunity to bring him back to the Etihad Stadium. The 23-year-old Dutchman, capable of playing as a full-back or in a more advanced role, is seen as a potential long-term replacement for the aging Kyle Walker.

Although Frimpong recently signed a contract extension with Leverkusen until 2028, City’s interest remains strong. Alongside Liverpool and Real Madrid, Manchester City is among the clubs vying for his signature.

Given Frimpong’s versatility and impressive performances, his potential return to Manchester City could provide a significant boost to Pep Guardiola’s squad as they aim for further success in the upcoming seasons.
