Man Utd hoping to steal top signing from Man City after giant exit clause confirmed

Manchester United is reportedly looking to secure the signing of West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta, potentially challenging Manchester City’s interest in the player.

Paqueta, who has impressed since joining West Ham from Lyon, was previously close to a move to Manchester City last summer. However, a probe into alleged betting irregularities involving Paqueta prompted the deal to be put on hold.

Despite the previous setback, Manchester City’s interest in Paqueta has persisted, especially with recent reports suggesting an agreement on personal terms between the player and the club.

With an £85 million release clause set to become active in July, Manchester City remains in contention for Paqueta’s signature. However, Manchester United has emerged as a potential competitor for the Brazilian midfielder.

While Manchester United’s midfield already boasts Bruno Fernandes, Paqueta’s versatility could see him fill various roles within the team. Nigel Reo-Coker, a former West Ham midfielder, even suggested that Paqueta could become a future Ballon d’Or winner.

Though Manchester United faces an uphill battle to convince Paqueta to choose them over Manchester City, the club’s ambition to strengthen its squad, coupled with Paqueta’s talent, makes this transfer saga one to watch.

As the race for Paqueta’s signature intensifies, both Manchester United and Manchester City seek to bolster their midfield options ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
