Man City’s poor record against Tottenham fuels Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes

Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Manchester City tonight has interesting implications for the Premier League title race.

While some Tottenham fans might want their team to lose to avoid helping Arsenal win the title, there’s a reason for Arsenal supporters to remain optimistic: Manchester City’s struggles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Since the stadium’s opening in 2019, Manchester City has never scored a goal in a league match there, losing all four encounters. They even suffered a defeat in the Champions League before finally winning an FA Cup match this year. Here’s a look at City’s horror run at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

April 2019: Tottenham 1-0 City (Champions League) – City’s Kevin De Bruyne was kept on the bench, and Hugo Lloris saved a penalty from Sergio Aguero. Son Heung-min scored the winning goal for Tottenham.

February 2020: Tottenham 2-0 City – Ilkay Gundogan missed a penalty for City, and Oleksandr Zinchenko received a red card. Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min scored for Tottenham.

November 2020: Tottenham 2-0 City – Another 2-0 defeat for City with goals from Giovanni Lo Celso and Son Heung-min.

August 2021: Tottenham 1-0 City – Son Heung-min continued his dominance against City, scoring the only goal in this match. Jack Grealish made his debut for City in this game.

February 2023: Tottenham 1-0 City – Harry Kane scored the only goal, and City once again failed to find the net.

While City did manage a win in the FA Cup this year, their struggles in the league at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium offer a glimmer of hope for Arsenal fans ahead of the title race finale this weekend.
