Man City transfers: five players to sell this summer

Manchester City eyes potential reinforcements for the upcoming season, Pep Guardiola also looks to trim his squad, considering five players for summer departures.

  1. Kalvin Phillips: Currently on loan at West Ham, Phillips has struggled to make an impact at the Etihad since his £42 million move from Leeds two years ago. With just two Premier League starts for City, his future with the club appears uncertain.
  2. Kyle Walker: Despite his successful tenure at City, Walker’s age and the emergence of younger talents signal a potential departure. At 34, Walker’s glittering seven-year stint might come to an end, especially after his near move to Bayern Munich last year.
  3. Matheus Nunes: Once hailed as one of the best players globally by Guardiola, Nunes’ performance at City hasn’t lived up to expectations. With limited game time and the pursuit of other midfield targets like Lucas Paqueta, City might consider offloading Nunes before his value decreases further.
  4. Joao Cancelo: Although technically still a City player, Cancelo has spent the past year and a half on loan spells, indicating his uncertain future at the club. City might opt to make his move to Barcelona permanent, closing the chapter on his stint at East Manchester.
  5. Sergio Gomez: Signed to provide cover at left-back, Gomez has failed to impress at City, making just four substitute appearances in the Premier League this season. At 23, City could explore options to sell Gomez and evaluate his market value.

With City’s focus on maintaining success, these potential departures reflect the club’s readiness to move on from players not meeting expectations and to pave the way for new additions to bolster the squad’s depth and quality.
