Guardiola provides fitness updates on Foden, Dias, and Ederson ahead of Wolves clash

Pep Guardiola has provided updates on the fitness of several key players in the Manchester City squad ahead of their Premier League match against Wolves on Saturday. The match at the Etihad Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 17:30 (UK time), and City are just one point behind league leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.

Phil Foden and Ruben Dias were both absent in the 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest last Sunday due to illness, while goalkeeper Ederson was substituted at halftime following a collision with Forest defender Willy Boly.

However, Guardiola confirmed that all three players are available for the upcoming match against Wolves. “[Foden and Dias are] okay,” he said in his pre-match news conference. On Ederson, he added: “It looked worse than it is. He trained yesterday and feels good.”

Erling Haaland, who missed the FA Cup semi-final victory over Chelsea and the 4-0 win against Brighton due to a muscle injury, made a substitute appearance in the victory over Forest, scoring the crucial second goal. Guardiola confirmed that Haaland is ready to start against Wolves.

With only four Premier League matches remaining in the season and the FA Cup final against Manchester United on the horizon, Guardiola emphasized the importance of freshening up the players’ minds and legs. He also mentioned the benefit of a rare midweek without games, which allowed the team to train and prepare adequately for the upcoming match.

City’s performance in the final stages of the season will be crucial as they aim to challenge for the Premier League title and secure success in the FA Cup final.
