Manchester City faces a challenging situation as the club has been warned that any appeals made against their 115 charges for financial offences dating back to 2009 are unlikely to succeed.

This warning follows Nottingham Forest’s unsuccessful appeal this week, which suggests that future appeals from City may also face a tough path.

Nottingham Forest was deducted four points this season after breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules in their 2022-23 accounts by £34.5 million. Section 84 of Forest’s verdict states that allegations of language infelicities or minor errors are unlikely to lead to a successful challenge of a decision.

Premier League CEO Richard Masters has announced that Manchester City will face a hearing for their 115 alleged breaches in the “near future.” Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has informed Football Insider that City’s case might not begin until early 2025 and could extend into 2026.

If Manchester City is found guilty of their charges, the club could face severe penalties such as a significant points deduction or even relegation.
