Manchester City’s vice-captain, Kevin De Bruyne, could be seeking a contract extension despite rumors of a potential £100 million exit, according to reports from City Xtra.

De Bruyne enters the final year of his contract, there have been growing interests from Saudi Arabia in luring him away from Manchester City.

Despite concerns about De Bruyne’s ability to maintain top-level performance in the long term, the Belgian midfielder seems keen on continuing to play at the highest level for a while longer.

Sources suggest that De Bruyne is eager to sign a new deal to extend his stay at Manchester City, where he has been a pivotal figure since joining in 2015.

However, there are potential roadblocks to a new deal, similar to those faced by former captain Ilkay Gundogan. Manchester City is reportedly hesitant to offer multi-year contracts to aging players, which has led Saudi Pro League sides to believe that a deal for De Bruyne could be possible in the near future.

Despite these uncertainties, Manchester City is preparing for all eventualities and remains keen on signing players in De Bruyne’s position, whether he stays or not.

The club’s transfer bosses are keeping an eye on the market for opportunities to recruit top-level players who could eventually succeed De Bruyne.

While De Bruyne’s future at Manchester City remains uncertain, the club is also facing questions about the future of their coach, Pep Guardiola, whose contract is also nearing its end.

However, Etihad chiefs seem relaxed about discussions with Guardiola, indicating that they are prepared for any potential changes in leadership.

As negotiations and speculations continue, fans are eager to see whether De Bruyne will commit to a contract extension or if he will explore opportunities elsewhere.
