Arsenal has reportedly expressed interest in signing Manchester City star Joao Cancelo during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

The Gunners, under the management of Mikel Arteta, are looking to strengthen their squad and have identified a new right-back as a priority target.

Cancelo is among the names on their radar, alongside other potential signings such as Jeremie Frimpong and Ferdi Kadioglu.

Cancelo, who joined Manchester City from Juventus, has been a key player under Pep Guardiola’s management, contributing to the team’s success in winning major titles.

However, recent disagreements with Guardiola led to Cancelo being loaned out to Bayern Munich last season before his current loan spell at Barcelona.

Despite Cancelo’s loan at Barcelona, it’s uncertain whether the Catalan club will be able to secure his services permanently due to financial constraints.

Manchester City reportedly values Cancelo at more than £34 million, with several clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Saudi Arabian clubs, interested in acquiring him.

While Cancelo is said to prefer staying at Barcelona, Arsenal’s interest presents an opportunity for the Gunners to potentially persuade him to move to the Emirates Stadium.

Cancelo’s quality and experience at the highest level make him an appealing prospect for Arsenal as they look to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
